
Kick-Boxing History Introduction
This web-site and its content are presented to give voice to the facts of when, and by whom the sport of Kick-Boxing was created. This site will put forth the facts which hopefully will quiet my detractors. The detractors in this usage are those who claim, or have claimed to have created, the sport of Kick-Boxing. I further want to give recognition to all the karate practitioners who were willing to learn and join this new sport of Kick-Boxing.
The creation of this new sport came at a time when all of the participants, the creators and new Kick-Boxers were looking for something in martial arts sports, that was not like the sports of Tournament Tag Karate, Full Contact Karate (which later changed its name to Kick-Boxing when the title caught on. In this case the fighters still wore karate GIs, protective shin guards, hand, and head protective gear, counting kicks, and no kicking below the waist.). History of the International Kick-Boxing Association
The International Kick-Boxing Association (I.K.B.A.) is primarily a sanctioning body for the sport of Kick-Boxing, also known as American and International Kick-Boxing. More specifically, it sanctions the sport of the Kick-Boxing system. Dan Rodarte created this unique, fast-paced, exciting, new sport which has proven to be the safest of all martial arts’ sporting events. When promotions, educational seminars, school franchising, equipment and merchandise are added to this new sports creation, one gets a sense of the continued building and support for the sport of Kick-Boxing.
